“The often haunting and tranquil melodic material was delivered with great passion and tenderness, evoking a sense of awe and serenity, and revealing the naked beauty of a cappella voices.” -Denver Post

Saturday, October 18 (Denver) – Give Me Your Stars

Give Me Your Stars explores the profound and diverse beauty of music inspired by the heavens, human connection, and the places we call home. At its heart is Lucy Walker’s eponymous new work, written for VOCES8, which captures the delicate balance between celestial wonder and the deep, personal connections that make us human.

The program spans centuries of choral music, from the luminous polyphony of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Regina Caeli to timeless jazz standards. Along the way, we encounter the reflective sentiments of Eric Whitacre’s All Seems Beautiful to Me and Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas, folk traditions in Danny Boy and Michael McGlynn’s Dúlamán, and evocative tales of cities and starlight in April in Paris and New York, New York.

VINTAGERuby – Elizabeth I: Words and Music

VINTAGERuby – Elizabeth I: Words and Music Step inside the world of Elizabethan England, where music was power, art was politics, and a woman ruled with brilliance and steel. In VINTAGERuby – Elizabeth I: Words and Music, Ars Nova Singers shares the stage with acclaimed actor Tamara Meneghini to bring Queen Elizabeth I vividly to life.

Drawing from Meneghini’s celebrated solo work Elizabeth I: In Her Own Words, the program weaves the queen’s private reflections with the music she heard, supported, and cherished. Renaissance masterworks by Thomas Tallis and William Byrd - composers who navigated faith, politics, and power under Elizabeth’s reign - create a rich musical dialogue with her story.

Part theater, part concert, VINTAGERuby offers an immersive portrait of a ruler both feared and beloved, revealing the human heart behind the crown.

RubyGLOW: Colorado New Music Festival

This is a rare opportunity to hear three of Colorado’s finest choirs sharing the stage and some of their favorite new music! Ars Nova hosts the first Colorado New Music Festival, with the combined artistry of Ars Nova Singers, Kantorei, and St. Martin’s Chamber Choir. Each acclaimed ensemble will present a solo set before joining forces in the World Premiere of Terry Schlenker’s new work The Bird of Vision (based on a poem by 13th-century Sufi mystic, Rumi), commissioned for this one-night-only concert.

A choir stands on a wooden stage in a modern concert hall, performing under the direction of a conductor, with an audience seated in the foreground.

RubyFIRE: Shared Visions

Featuring Shared Visions, Ars Nova Singers’ signature collaborative project, connecting Colorado visual, literary, and musical artists in chains of inspiration.

We’re igniting the Colorado arts scene! For our 4th Shared Visions venture, we start by assembling a gallery of 21 visual art works by seven Colorado artists. Next, we invite Colorado poets to engage with this art and respond to its inspiration with original poems that we compile into an anthology. Four Colorado composers are then commissioned to incorporate this anthology into new music for chorus. Finally, our performances will gather all these Colorado creatives together – and then the artworks will truly sing! The cycle is complete when YOU, the audience, join us to bring this new art to life.
