The Boulder Opera is committed to making opera accessible, inspiring and engaging to the community. Our goal is to develop new audiences for this old art form, enrich the lives of our community, and provide opportunity to local musicians.
Since 2012, we have brought high quality opera to the Boulder audience, who is diverse and eager to see our incredibly talented local artists performing.
Our efforts point towards sharing our love for this art form without barriers: hundreds of people have enjoyed free concerts, many of them members of underserved communities, specially Latino/Hispanic; our educational programs have let thousands of kids from different Title 1 schools in the Boulder area experience the beauty of this art; and, our accessible family-friendly productions have brought people together.

Opera in the Park 2025: Bella Voce
Join us for Opera in the Park 2025: Bella Voce, a magical open-air concert celebrating the grandeur of Italian opera and the brilliance of American classics. Featuring stunning arias, duets, and ensembles, this program showcases the beauty of the operatic voice in a spectacular outdoor setting.
Enjoy selections from Mozart, Verdi, Bernstein, and Gershwin, performed by Boulder Opera’s finest singers with a live orchestra. From the soaring melodies of Don Giovanni and Rigoletto to the American elegance of Candide and Porgy and Bess, this program blends the best of Italian and American opera traditions into an unforgettable evening of music.

Family Series: The Elixir of Love by Donizetti
Boulder Opera Family Series presents: Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, a charming opera for all ages!
Join us for a delightful hour-long adaptation of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, perfect for young audiences and families! This heartwarming and hilarious tale follows the lovable Nemorino as he tries to win the heart of the clever and confident Adina—with the help of a mysterious “love potion.” Filled with beautiful melodies, playful characters, and a touch of magic, this opera is a fun introduction to the world of classical music and storytelling.
Sung in Italian with English subtitles and featuring a live ensemble orchestra, our Family Series version brings the joy of opera to children ages 4 and up in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

Boulder Opera presents: Der Rosenkavalier by Strauss
Love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos... Viennese style.
Join Boulder Opera for a fresh, intimate take on Der Rosenkavalier, a romantic comedy by Richard Strauss that blends heart, humor, and stunning music.
Set in the glittering world of 18th-century Vienna, the story follows a complicated love triangle: a noblewoman, her younger lover, and a sweet young bride-to-be. There's a cheeky disguise, a silver rose, and plenty of laughs along the way all with gorgeous melodies and rich emotions.
The opera is sung in German with piano accompaniment, and we’ll guide you through the story with English narration, so you’ll never miss a beat. Music Director Brandon Matthews leads an incredible cast in this elegant yet accessible production.
