Colorado Conservatory of Dance

To inspire the love for dance, encourage artistic expression, and increase accessibility of dance and performance for the community.

Colorado Conservatory of Dance (CCD) is a flagship performing arts organization whose mission is to inspire a lifelong love for dance, nurture artistic expression, and increase access to the performing arts for all. Rooted in artistic excellence, inclusivity, and community engagement, CCD provides exceptional training to students of all ages and abilities in ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance, and Mexican Folklorico.
Through professional instruction and performance-based learning, CCD promotes both the teaching and appreciation of dance as a vital performing art. Our inclusive environment fosters students’ technical skill, creativity, and personal growth—laying the foundation for lifelong engagement with the arts, whether as performers or audience members. CCD also connects dance with academic development—especially literacy—through interdisciplinary programming that combines movement, storytelling, and social-emotional learning.

CCD’s original productions deepen this connection between dance and literature. Home Is in Me, inspired by The Secret Garden, and Romeo and Juliet: The Choice, a reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic, bring canonical texts to life through choreography. These performances help students and audiences engage with literary themes such as identity, resilience, and empathy—encouraging critical thinking and cultural understanding through the performing arts.

Our signature Anti-Bullying Ballet Program combines original performance with bilingual narration, storytelling, and literacy-based classroom materials. This program builds vocabulary, comprehension, and empathy while addressing topics like immigration, bias, and identity. Educator guides include reading prompts and SEL-aligned content, demonstrating how the arts can enhance academic learning.

CCD’s Community Education (ComEd) programs—including After-School Dance Classes and Move2Learn—serve Title 1 schools and historically underserved communities. These initiatives integrate dance into education, strengthen student development, and ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation.

CCD also partners with music and cultural organizations including Fiesta Colorado, Art from Ashes, Sacred Voices, the Colorado Symphony, and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra to create interdisciplinary performances that expand the reach and impact of the performing arts.
